Biography
Hello there, and welcome to my website, where you can have a look at my artwork.

I have a successful and very rewarding career in a different field, and this continues today, but now it has to make room for, and sits alongside, my developing artwork. I haven't ever had any formal art training although I did intend to pursue this, but ill health intervened. I have always taken photographs and exhibited and sold a few along the way, but a few years ago, after some very major life events, things changed for me.

I was on a train, coming back from visiting someone in London, when I met a woman who looked as though she might be a painter- she was very colourful. She was looking at some books on sculpture. We didn't talk until the last 10 minutes of the journey - I suppose that both of us didn't want to get into a conversation and then find ourselves stuck, having to make small talk. You know it can be. However, we found that we had an instant and positive connection. Well, she told me that she had been to a sculpture exhibition and as the conversation unfolded, she told me that she ran sculpture workshops in rural Dorset. Would I like to come along? I was really interested but also a bit scared and said that I did. So we exchanged numbers. As I got off the train, I saw that the well-known photographer whose workshop I had attended a few weeks previously walked past. He didn't see me.

Anyway, long story short, I went to the workshop, and that meeting, that woman, and my going towards it changed my life. I could not believe the first piece (seated woman) I produced, and that feeling stays with me every time. A special kind of magic for me.

So now, a few years on, I have had tuition via workshops from sculptors like Mark Cohen and Clare Trenchard and lots of support from other sculptors along the way, and I feel as if I am just getting going.
